Day 3 of the 2018 J24 Worlds saw a mixed bag of wind with 28 knots forecast but was no where to be seen. The southerly breeze kicked in again like clockwork at 1:30 pm and built up enough for some boats to change down to their jibs in race 2 leg 1 only to change back up to their larger sail on the 1.4nm downwind leg.
After 7 races, results of the SYC boats are as follows:
12th – By The Lee – Brendan Lee
45th – Bruschetta IV – Hugo Ottoway
55th – Hyperactive – Kirsty Harris
70th – Jet – Simon Grain
Brendan Lee and team held on to 12th spot after Day 3 however used up a lot of buffer with a big result in race 7 which means carrying a 44 in the results. Kirsty Harris and team made some changes to their boat and it showed with improved results.
Day 4 is likely to be wiped out with thunderstorms and very little wind forecasted at race time.
