Female Start Helming Course

Friday, 20th August 2021

SYC has successfully obtained a ‘Change our Game‘ grant from the Victorian Government which is being used to subsidise a female start helming course on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September. After promoting this course last week, we were hoping to fill the 20 places but ended up with 34 responses! So rather than having 14 aspiring Sandy women miss out, SYC will provide the extra funding required to hold a second course.

There will again be 20 places available and the course cost will be reduced from $340 to $50 per person. So, if you know an aspiring female sailor who might be interested, get them to register asap through the below link as we have six more spots available for the next course. The dates of this second course are Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 November.

These two start helming courses will provide our female sailors with an opportunity to refine their helming skills and will be a great lead into the 2021/22 Summer Series where we will continue our female helm Twilight races and hold our Women in Sailing Challenge on Sunday 6 March 2022.

Save the date for the Women in Sailing Challenge – 6 March 2022 – as we are look to celebrate International Women’s Day and a great day of sailing!

If you would like more information on the women’s start helming course, our female helm Twilight races, our Women in Sailing Challenge or even just to link up with some of your fellow SYC female sailors, please email [email protected].
