Cruise in Company Docklands April 2019

On Friday in the face of a strong wind warning, 7 boats (power and yachts) headed into a 25-30 knot head wind to Docklands. Being a Northerly the waves were moderate. Just after we got there a gale warning was issued for Friday and Saturday. And did it blow Friday night!! Given we were already there and the gale was due to abate early Saturday, we could only cautiously encourage the rest to venture forth.

And did they what. All boats turned up (22 in all) with 65 for dinner at Docklands. The brewery tour (and drinking) was well attended. But the highlight was definitely the dinner. Marshalled by the marvellous duo of Dawn and Garry Cleaver, a small army of helpers prepared and cooked a great dinner, great desserts (certainly not finished), decorations and great company. About 9.30 PM the dancing started and it was in full swing until late.

Sunday dawned to the Run for the Kids which finished right where we were. Sunday late morning was a sedate motor or sail back to SYC (with the Association Cup boats out to starboard). A few boats stayed up at Docklands an extra night or two
