Another fun SYC podcast is now online, from this weekend we have OTB coaching on offer, we look set to re-open both the Clubhouse and reception in a staged approach from next Monday 1 June and a quick reminder for boat owners about a free fire extinguisher check……here’s the detail;
1) Podcast #9: themed ‘growing up disgracefully at SYC’, George and Deeksy kick off with some club news and then catch up with Jessica Watson who’s celebrating 10 years since she sailed solo around the world, they also chat with Henry Johnston re: Young Endeavour, Ralph White enlightens us with an ‘oldie but a goodie’ and Jenny, Freya and Stewart Vickery reminisce – listen here
2) Off the Beach Coaching: In a big positive for our OTB community, we are now offering coaching opportunities for those allowed to sail under the government restrictions. Targeting our single handed classes and double handed dinghies where both sailors reside at the same address, we are offering weekend on-water coaching sessions. Utilising SYC sailing coaches, there is no charge for these Member services but numbers are limited as per the Government guidelines…. so please register your interest and get more info from James Sly at [email protected]
3) SYC Clubhouse to re-open – whilst we still await more Government information and rules set to be released today at some stage, it is our intention to reopen our food and beverage outlets in a staged approach from next Monday 1 June. Once we have the rules and make sense of them, we will be in touch later this week on our Member service offerings
4) Boating Restrictions eased – there’s no fundamental change to the ease on boating restrictions, you can continue to use your boat, go sailing, go fishing, and go recreational boating following certain rules; read the very latest from Australian Sailing on what we can, and cannot do, in our boats in Victoria at the moment – click here
And for our boat owners a quick reminder if you would like your boats fire extinguisher checked, please label and drop it into the Ken King Centre between 11am – 5pm any day in the lead up to this Friday 29th. But if you can’t get down we can grab it for you please let James know.
