Commodores Challenge 2017

Wednesday, 24th May 2017

_MG_3965_1On the weekend of 20-21 May 2017, Sandringham Yacht Club hosted the second Commodores Challenge (CC). There are many women’s keelboat races on Port Phillip Bay but none of these are one-design. The CC has been designed to showcase the talented female sailors in Victoria in a one-design fleet racing format on the SYC Beneteau 7.5s.

The event is so named because we invite Commodores from around Port Phillip Bay to enter their best female team to compete in the event. This year we bettered last years event with seven teams which were rotated throughout the six boats during the day to complete the series.

The participating clubs were; Hobsons Bay Yacht Club, Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron, Royal Brighton Yacht Club, Mornington Yacht Club, Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club, Ocean Racing Club of Victoria, and Sandringham Yacht Club.
