Today SYC had the absolute pleasure of hosting over 60 kids and parents for our annual Challenge Sail Day. Challenge – supporting kids with cancer is one of our very special partners and we have been fortunate to have this relationship for some 20+ years.
A huge thank you to Robyn Coombs for coordinating today’s sail (and the sunny weather) and to our generous skippers and crews for giving up their time and their boats for such a worthy cause. The smiles on the kids’ faces is just a bonus and so heart-warming!
In addition to today’s outing, SYC direct the proceeds from the Keeping Cancer at Bay yacht race as well as monies raised at our Oaks Day lunches – and it goes to the amazing services provided by Challenge.
Inspirationally led by Dave Rogers, Challenge, like many charitable organisations, have had a tough 12 months through COVID – SYC recognise this and today it was our great pleasure for Commodore Garry Anderson to present Challenge with a cheque for $10,000 to give them a little boost. It was warmly received.
