Bullet takes aim at Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta

Friday, 14th May 2021

After a successful campaign in the Port Phillip Women’s Championship Series (PPWCS) hosted by Australian Sailing, Bullet from SYC skippered by Robyn Ragauskas is preparing for the Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (AWKR) to be held at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend 11th to 14th June 2021.

Bullet took out Division 2 (mixed crew) on both AMS and PHS of the PPWC which consisted of 10 races held over 5 different days by various yacht clubs around the bay including SYC’s own WISC.

Although sailing in the mixed crew division, most races were crewed exclusively by women providing the perfect platform to prepare for the AWKR.

“The PPWC really helped each crew member gain valuable confidence and experience both within themselves and with the boat and cemented us into a team” commented Robyn.

“You could actually see each crew member grow in confidence over the series and the multiple day, multiple race format really helped.”

The crew comprises a range of women from different backgrounds including family (Robyn’s three daughters are part of the crew), close friends and a crew member on a season’s pass that came up through the SYC Boating Academy and found Bullet through the Sailing Office.

For the upcoming AWKR the core crew of Robyn Ragauskas (skipper) Ella Ragauskas, Meg Ragauskas, Lily Ragauskas, Tara Bickham and Chris O’Keefe will be joined by seasoned SYC sailor Karen Neville who will bring valuable experience to the team.

Good Luck Bullet!!
