DESCRIPTION |
1970-1978 |
Perhaps one of most beautiful yachts built in Australia and still a classic yacht. Lou’s favorite yacht. Built to contest the 1970 Admiral’s Cup. Timber detail immaculate. Received a rig upgrade to improve performance latter in her life. Cruised Pacific extensively. Had an altercation with a whale on return voyage from Fiji jamming the rudder. Strength of construction prevailed and returned to SYC without assistance. Regular Competitor in ORVC offshore events. Painted orange for a period but returned to traditional white when common sense prevailed. Still winning classic yacht events. A work of art and immaculately restored to original condition. At time of posting, a video of the restored Vittoria is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34iQ4Kv6nbk |
1970-1978 |
Vittoria competed in 9 consecutive Sydney-Hobart races. |
