At various regattas Ultimate Challenge was perhaps Lou’s most successful yacht. Built for the 1987 Admiral’s Cup trials and then selected in Australia’s team. Competed in the Admirals Cup with a good result in the Fastnet race. Competed in 1988 and 1990 Kenwood Cups in Hawaii and the 1988 One Ton Cup in St Francisco USA. Represented Victoria in a number of Southern Cross Cups and Australia in 2 Kenwood Cup teams. Enjoyed close competition with fellow One Tonners Joint Venture and Sagacious which was a feature of racing at the time. Build in state of the art construction. Lou modified her keel 3 times seeking optimum performance. Also fondly known to her crew as “Puddle Decker” because of the flat decks. |

Ultimate Challenge was purchased by current owner (2020) Peter Lenkins in 2014 and delivered from Queensland to her current home in Hobart, Tasmania. An extensive restoration was performed in 2014 and now Ultimate Challenge is back as a regular competitor in Hobart racing.
