Unfortunately due to the weather forecast, the Association Cup has been abandoned for Sunday 9 April.
Sandringham Yacht Club will be hosting the 2017 Association Cup on Sunday 9 April 2017 after winning back the Cup after a long hard 10 years.
The first warning signal will be at 1055 hrs in the vicinity of R2 with competing teams from Royal Brighton Yacht Club, Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron and Royal Yacht Club of Victoria set to fight it out against the current defending champions from Sandringham Yacht Club.
Racing in a format that reverts back to how the Cup was run a number of years ago, each club elects eight boats in total to compete as part of their team. Racing will be broken up into two divisions in both the AMS and IRC categories. Two boats from each club will race in each divisional category and fight it out to not only be the best club team in their division, but to come away with the lowest combined score which will then along with the other divisional categories, assist in determining the overall best performing club!
In a series of up to four races with no exclusions, this will really emphasise the need to sail as consistently as possible throughout the day to ensure the best chance of coming away with the win.
