Sandringham Yacht Club was well represented by the ‘Sandy 9ers’ at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron in Outer Harbour, Adelaide early January this year.
SYC Teams and their families made the journey to Adelaide just after Christmas to participate in all of the 9er classes which includes the 49er, 49erFX and 29er. In less than typical Adelaide conditions the fleets battled it out in mainly light breezes and typically high temperatures for five days to achieve some consistent and solid results.

Most of Team Sandy 9ers all stayed together as a group in the local Sea Scout accommodation, situated on site at RSAYS. This proved to be a major success with many laughs and good times had by all with friendships developed over the course of the regatta………such is the nature of sailing.
This Nationals event has demonstrated significant growth within the fleets and indicates that these are classes on an upward trend and certainly fleets to be watched. The ‘Sandy 9ers’ are looking forward to continued growth in our club fleet and hoping for great participation in our upcoming states in March.
