2021 SYC Fishing Competition

The SYC annual fishing competition was run from Friday 19 November through till 11am Sunday the 21st, with final weigh in by 1130am.

Our revised multi-day format has again proved popular with fish being weighed in on Friday afternoon, 11am and 4pm Saturday, as well as at 11am Sunday.

A benefit of the multi-day format is that the competition went down to the wire with the winning Snapper being the last fish weighed in (at 11:20am Sunday) and the runner up being the first weighed in on Friday afternoon.

David Lamond, supported by his two children on their boat ‘Flight Risk’, look out the best Snapper winning a Rod and Reel with a fish weighing in at 4.18kg.

Second place was Gary Axton on his boat Allure, pulling in a 3.84kg Snapper to take home a nice fishing net.

Whilst a fair few Snapper were caught and weighed in, a very nice 5.61kg Gummy Shark was caught by AJ Woolridge to take out the prize for the best alternative species (non Snapper) taking home a great Fishing tool kit.

As always, all had fun and really enjoyed the time back out on the water.

Finally on behalf of all participants and the Club, we would like to thank our regular sponsors R Marine Jacksons for their continued support of the event.
